With the Anschluss ofNa'{j Germa'!Y coming to Austria in 1938 Franz]iigerstatter an Austrian farmer with three daughters under sixyears of age refused conscription into the Na'{j military as "contrary to his Catholicfaith." His wife Fran'{jska was an importantpart of this heroic act. Franz was convicted of treason and beheaded on 9 August 1943 in Berlin. He will be beatified fry the Church in Lin;v Austria on Friday 26 October 200 7.
